In any community, state, or nation with provisions for referendums and/or the initiative already in. their constitution or charter, citizens can act as "Citizen Legislators" by simply signing initiative petitions.
A common theme of the events we are hosting to facilitate the initiative process will be to accentuate the joyous nature of promoting democracy. We are not protesting. Democracy is coming and we are celebrating (while organizing and doing the work of making our government our own).
We are launching our campaign to make America a Perfect Democracy in Jackson County (Missouri) because the Constitutional Home Rule Charter of Jackson County has the most citizen-friendly initiative process in the world.
We intend to host a series of Town Halls and "political parties" that will help Politically Active Citizens in Jackson County take full advantage of the political power given them under the Constitutional Home Rule Charter of Jackson County to act as Citizen Legislators through the "Peoples' Assembly of Jackson County". We do not intend to put a formal legislative body in place. We simply plan to facilitate citizens working together through the initiative.
We are circulating initiative petitions for seven proposals: Three amendments to the Constitutional Home Rule Charter of Jackson County and four "ordinances". Our primary focus is on one elegantly simple, yet incredibly powerful, pro-democracy reform that will make it much easier for the people of Jackson County to govern: THE PERFECT DEMOCRACY ORDINANCE will allow citizens of Jackson County to sign any petitions provided for in the Home Rule Charter electronically (online).

To take full advantage of the initiative process in Jackson County, we, the people, need to be able to operate in ways that are similar to how a legislative body operates. We want to do that without getting overly formal. This meeting will be an open discussion about how we want to organize a "Peoples' Assembly" in Jackson County.
